The Maguari Sork is distributed throughout most of South America east of the Andes. It seems to be even more linked to water than other members of the Ciconia genus such as the White Stork (Ciconia ciconia)

It feeds on frogs, fish, snakes and insects foraging in marshy areas or on agricultural land but usually resulting in it being covered in mud and dirt. The untidy looking bird in the 3rd photo is more typical than the rather pristine individual in the first two photos.
